My stay at Betel Box Backpackers Hostel was enjoyable overall but had some drawbacks. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing excellent local tips. However, the cleanliness of the facilities left much to be desired, and I found the dorm room quite hot at night, which affected my sleep. 😊

The dorms had a cozy layout, but the heat was an issue for those in the middle beds like me. The beds were comfortable, though some cleanliness issues persisted.

Breakfast was simple but enjoyable, with a good variety of spreads for toast. Plus, I appreciated the free tea and coffee available all day.

While the common area was open late, it could be tidier, and the bathroom facilities were lacking in number. More upkeep would really enhance the overall experience.

I had a pretty decent stay at Betel Box Backpackers Hostel. The location in the Joo Chiat area was awesome for grabbing food and exploring local spots, plus the staff were super friendly and helpful. However, the cleanliness definitely needed attention, and it could get pretty hot in the dorms if you didn't have access to AC. Overall, it was affordable and a solid choice for a short stay.

The dorms were basic, and I had some trouble with the heat in the middle bed. I could feel the lack of attention in upkeep, and the bed frames were not in great shape.

Betel Box is in a vibrant and historical area, really cool for exploring unique shops and eateries. Accessible transportation made getting around much easier, even if it's a bit further from the main downtown.

Breakfast was simple but nice, with toast and a variety of spreads. There was also free tea and coffee available all day, which was a plus.

While the common area had potential for socializing, it was quite cluttered and could use a tidy-up. WiFi was only accessible in the common room.

My stay at Betel Box Backpackers Hostel was quite enjoyable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, providing great tips about Singapore. However, I did find the cleanliness of certain areas lacking, especially the bathrooms. Overall, it was good value for the money and a nice place to meet fellow travelers.

The six-man dorm was decently organized, but my bed in the middle got quite hot due to limited AC access. The layout could use some improvement.

6.8/10

I had an alright stay at Betel Box Backpackers Hostel, primarily because of the welcoming staff and the location. The hostel is pretty affordable, and it’s close to some cool spots in Joo Chiat, but it definitely needs more attention to cleanliness and organization. While I enjoyed the free tea and coffee available all day, the overall condition of the facilities was a bit disappointing.

Rooms
6.0
The room layout was a little odd, with only some beds having air conditioning. The cleanliness was a concern, as the bedframes didn’t seem well-maintained.
Service
8.0
The staff, especially Tony, were incredibly helpful and friendly. They provided great recommendations for local food and sights, which I really appreciated.
Location

I found the location convenient, just a short walk from the bus station. Though it’s not central, the neighborhood had a nice vibe with good food options nearby.
Dining

I enjoyed the breakfast of toast and spreads, and the availability of instant noodles and drinks at reasonable prices was a plus.
Facilities

The WiFi was limited to the common room, and I found the common spaces cluttered; they could use a good tidy up. Additionally, the bathrooms were often crowded with insufficient facilities for the number of guests.

My stay at Betel Box Backpackers Hostel was a mixed bag. On the positive side, the staff, especially Tony, were super welcoming and provided valuable insights about the area and how to navigate Singapore. However, the cleanliness of the place left much to be desired, making it difficult to fully enjoy my experience. Overall, it's decent for a budget stay, especially if you're looking for friendly faces and local recommendations. 😌

Rooms
6.0
The dorm I stayed in had simple amenities. While it was adequately spacious, I couldn't enjoy a comfortable night's sleep due to the lack of air conditioning and the heat from sunlight in the morning. Additionally, the beds didn't have curtains, which was a bit annoying. I appreciated having charging ports available, especially in other corners of the room.
Service
9.0
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great tips on where to go and how to get around Singapore. I felt welcomed and well-informed during my stay. Their knowledge about the area and local culture added immense value to my experience.
Location
7.0
The location was a bit far from the nearest MRT station, especially with a heavy backpack. However, the vibrant Joo Chiat area nearby had excellent food spots and bars, making it pleasant to explore. Plus, I found it easy to access public transport for my city adventures.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was simple but a great start to the day, featuring toast, spreads, and even some fruit. I particularly enjoyed the blueberry jam! However, I felt there was room for improvement as the menu lacked protein options like eggs.
Facilities
6.0
The hostel had essential facilities like laundry services and ticket assistance. While the common area had potential to be a great social hub, it felt a bit cluttered and unorganized, which detracted from the overall experience.
